One more question~~

Hello undun (also my kindly Teacher^^),
I've worked out so I think now it's probably OK for me with LJ/IJ : ) Thank you!
I saw the story on your IJ and already collected them all in my computer. But I want to ask, is there really involved Snarry? As Snarry is not my cup of tea, no offence, I'm afraid I can't read much of it, beacuse on your IJ the title is 'Fic: Recovery Position, SS/RL, SS/HP, NC-17', I just want to confirm it.
'Under the Influence' is really brilliant! Love that, and 'Stone Cold Sober' is much much much longer, my friend cain_ma is working on translating ~I'm waiting : )
For stories, I simply have my own prejudice with Potters, both Harry and James, so there won't be too much tales left for me, sigh
And, here is my question, not about writing, but on the Fandom.
Could you please tell me, in English fandom community, is there any differences between 'Lupin/Snape' and 'Snape/Lupin' ?(take them as example, the real thing is 'A/B' VS.'B/A'). I've used with 'Snape/Lupin=Lupin/Snape=Snupin', but in Chinese fandom, they take these as totaly opposite thing. I guess maybe comes from Japanese fandom, 'seme' vs.'uke'.
They divided this according who doms in bed. For instance, if the Paring is 'Lupin/Snape', then Snape MUST be the accepter('uke') during their sex.
I don't like that kind of thing in English fandom (but for Japan Comics is OK), also have had some little conflicts with them who highly insist on this. I think it's rather uncomfortable to have a 'woman-like' Snape(or Lupin), or label them just by the position, especially when the original is from west-world.
For me, who doms in bed is not such important thing, I always focus more on the story itself, but there do have soooo many girls in Chinese fandom, they even argue somtimes, about top!Snape vs. bottom!Snape (should be seme!Snape vs. uke!Snape exactly).
I'm a big fan of Japanese Drama and Comics, I can understand 'seme' and 'uke' in Japanese fandom well, that even can be harmonious, but I just can't accept, just confused with this in English fandom. So is this true in English? Do you have the same ruls as well? Or, just we mislead by Japanese fandom, put the wrong thing in English?
Sorry about writing back late.
Thank you!
Best wishes,
Doris

Hi Doris!
First, let me say I have been lazy and have not written to you regarding some clarification on the use of 'semi-colon', very bad of me! I will do this after a good night's sleep. It was my mum's birthday today, so I am a bit too tired after doing all the party cooking and cleaning. :-)
Secondly, your question about my story -- it is not a snarry. It does feature a Snape who *appears* to be in love with Harry, who he assumes is dead, but it is most certainly a snupin story, written by a snupin writer, ;-)
I wrote it in a certain way to explore the dynamic between Lupin and Snape, and I think I was writing my own argument against snarry! :-) In the story -- and I don't want to spoil you for the storyline too much -- I write Snape coming to terms with his weakness and growing up emotionally with Lupin's help. I wrote Snape as very angry and unpleasant, but basically a good person who is improved at the end. He does have mistakes and must learn by them. It also has some humour!
Now, on to your interesting question. I am not a consumer of Japanese yaoi or anime or any media from Japan -- which is a bit strange because I have a brother living there! However, I do know some people who like it very much. I had no knowledge of seme and uke until they told me what it meant. I can see how it is a format used by Japanese media, but I don't see it used in HP slash fandom, except by a few HP/DM fans. Most fans don't bring it into HP, but possibly some people who have their main fandom in Japanese media will bring that format with them when getting into HP fandom. I don't think it holds together very well, because as you know HP writers like to experiment and like variety. The seme/uke format is very restrictive creatively. And yes, you are right to say that it isn't a traditional format for English fandom such as Harry Potter, but I'm sure there are many English-speaking fans who like the Japanese-based fandom and its format of seme/uke.
Perhaps the fans who like HP/DM (drarry) also like that pair because it is similar to a lot of yaoi pairs? I'm only guessing, I don't know enough about it.
It is a good question, and I find it very rare that people will insist on one character always being in one position. Probably the closest thing English fandom has to seme/uke is Mpreg. I have written an Mpreg story myself, and I did not want to feminise my character at all. I think it worked to keep the character masculine at all times.
I hope I have given you a good answer!
I was so happy to see you post your snupin drabble! I hope you put many more on IJ! :-)
xxx
